Families and Youth
Here at Southminster, we strive to be child- and family-friendly, no matter what the ages of the family!
Children are always welcome in worship, and we provide special children's bulletins as well as Children's Worship Bags,
filled with activities for our children. We also provide nursery care year-round for those parents who would prefer it.
During the school year, we offer Sunday School for all ages (pre-school through adult) following the
worship hour (at 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM). All our teachers have been screened and trained in our Child Protection Policy
Once a child reaches 7th grade, they are eligible to participate in our annual spring musical,
for students through high school. The musical is taken "on the road", visiting churches in the area, and leading worship with our dialogue,
music and dance. We receive a free-will offering, which then is a fund-raiser for those in 9th - 12th grades to use for our annual summer
mission trip. Summer of 2007 we traveled to Memphis, TN, and summer of 2008 we were in New Orleans, LA. The 2009 youth trip went to
Guatemala to help build a school.
We also have a variety of fellowship activities for the youth group throughout the year!
In addition to our Sunday morning worship schedule, once a month we also offer "Faith Fun Night",
which includes a child-friendly dinner, games, crafts, and special worship time, designed specifically for our children.
Recent themes included Pentecost, Easter, a Seder meal, Lent, our own individuality as created by God, and a Blessing of the Pets.
